The 2010 winter olympics in Vancouver is just round the corner and already i know of some ppl who are on the airplane heading there.   But be careful while you travel to support your favorite team or ppl during the Olympics because there are loads of scammers out there trying to get your money.  Well, scammers are everywhere they would try and get your money – even if it means selling you tile flooring if they so much think that you need them.  But beware of those who offers you accommodation at a special rate or even those selling you game tickets or Olympics souvenirs.  Use your common sense and if the deal is too good, you know something is wrong with it.

From a sumptuous old-world Swiss resort alongside the Matterhorn to 1930s-era cabins in Mammoth, Calif., we’ve tracked down the hot spots that will keep you tingling until the big thaw.   is a cool boutique hotel in Whistler Village close to the lifts and the nightlife. The rooms had a cool young vibe, and would be an awesome place to crash after a day on the slopes. Friendly staff and hip comfortable surroundings. The bed had a pretty deluxe mattress pad to boot. I’d recommend this to younger travelers any day for it’s atmosphere and great location. Winter rates are bound to be pricey, but if you can swing it The Adara is the place to be.

Funky looking furniture at Adara Hotel.

Another funky loft at Adara.  Located at  4122 Village Green, Whistler, BC, Canada, VON 1B4.  Touted as being a luxurious hotel, they do have some special deals and packages from time to time.

The Adara Hotel is a block from the Whistler/Blackcomb gondola, two blocks from Whistler Golf Course, and approximately 85 miles from Vancouver International Airport. The hotel’s 41 guestrooms and suites highlight British Columbia’s best contemporary design elements, laced throughout with colour, charm and wit. In a town envied for its lifestyle, Adara Whistler Hotel kicks it up a notch, combining an outstanding location with exceptional service and style. Adara is Whistler style unzipped. Hotel amenities include complimentary wired and wireless internet in all guest rooms, seasonal outdoor swimming pool (May through September only) and spa tub (year round), and is within walking distance to the lifts. The hotel also offers ski storage, dry cleaning/laundry service (with fee), valet parking (20 CAD plus taxes per 24-hour period), currency exchange, bike racks, pets allowed (no fee), underground parking, complimentary morning coffee and tea and newspapers in the lobby, concierge, bell service/storage, and 24-hour front desk service. All 41 rooms feature floating electric fireplaces, flat-screen TVs, in-room movies, CD players, coffeemakers, microwaves, minibars, bathrobes, hairdryers, irons and ironing boards, safes, air-conditioning, cable TV, cordless telephones, five-foot showers with rain showerheads and high speed Internet and wireless (with fee).

Another room.. during a skiing trip.

Flying out of Whistler back home on a private jet, we took this.

Ski Holidays

November 3rd, 2008

Those who have been on my blog for a long time will know that I’ve had many wonderful ski holidays in France at the Courchevel 1850.  The sight is breath-taking, magnificent does not even begin to describe how one can feel when you are at the heart of these famous valleys.  The largest skiing area in the world is found here on the French Alps and although I do like Whistler, Vancouver, Canada a lot too, I have to say that this is the perfect place to be whether in the winter or even the summer.  Courchevel is always packed with tourists and local residents are very warm to tourists/vacationers like us. It’s organized and safe.

This is at La Saulire where my first skiing holidays began.  There were many wonderful restaurants to choose from after a long day of play, and resorts are aplenty.  They are all well furnished and you are not cut off from the rest of the world like some might think, internet access is within the hotel and even in your room.

Painted walls like this are not uncommon when you ski France the way I did for many years.  There is so much more that the hotels/resorts can offer vacationers like us and you will be amazed that some resorts let you ski from your doorstep.  Oh and don’t forget to get your massages and facial treatments as well while you are at it.  Skiing in France or even in Whistler need not be expensive at all, it is not only for the rich, trust me.
