Shopping In UK

August 22nd, 2010

Shopping in UK need not be in London alone – in fact – there are different part of UK – that one can travel and see lots of historical and cultural stuff.  I was once in Leeds, UK for a festival in the summer and found that I can come to like Leeds a lot too.

I love all the old buildings in Leeds – they make me think of the Kings and Queens in this modern world of ours.  So where is Leeds – I hear everyone asking me – when i returned from the festival – well it is in West Yorkshire, England.  So how did i get there?   We took the railway from London up to Leeds and if i remember correctly – it didn’t take too long to reach Leeds from London Kings Cross.

Look at the beautiful and majestic looking arch – i lived for old constructions like these.

More shopping if you want to.

My favorite store.

We started early in the day after breakfast – therefore you don’t see much people around – but later in the afternoon – this area was bustling with people.

Gotta love these independent shop houses.

English bears! i know of someone who has one since 1982.

The Light – plenty of shops here – from exclusive shops to the luxury – and have a cup of coffee in one of their quaint cafes if you are tired.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to the museum nor watch a sport game – which Leeds is very famous for.  Maybe the next time eh.

Las Vegas

I’m surprised I haven’t written more about Las Vegas afterall, I have been there upteem times for work, for vacation and even for a bachelorette party.  I’ve stayed at several hotel .. and loved them for various reasons.  The Ceasar’s pool was huge.. and it’s was pretty convenient to everything and everywhere.  The Excalibur wasn’t too bad either.. and the room # plates gave your the old feel because of the sword and the blue in it.. but they were plastic framed… if you know what i mean. But each time.. i go to Las Vegas, I’m only too glad to use my  Medifast coupon code.

Ppl feel that going to Las Vegas is just a waste of time .. because they are for gamblers and sleazy old man.. hahaha!! but truth be told.. it is not.  Las Vegas is really vibrant.. and you can actually get good meals .. for under $20 .. or you can go for fine dining for $500 a couple.  Shopping was great.. at the strips..  but be sure you wear really comfy shoes.  Whether you are in to Gucci or just handmade stuff, you can find it there.  Ppl watching was something i love too.. in Las Vegas… and i usually spend an hour or so in the pools .. at any Vegas hotels that I am in.   There were so much that I did.. i’m gonna have to find the pictures and post it up for everyone to see.

Ever been to Borough Market in U.K.? well if you are in the vicinity you have to make a trip there to look at all these wonderful vegies and fruits. One certainly wouldn’t need any appetite suppressants with these eh.   Borough Market is London’s oldest food market. It was established on the south bank of the Thames when the Romans built the first London Bridge. It has occupied its present site for 250 years.  Borough has a long and distinguished history as a wholesale fruit and vegetable market – wholesale trade takes place every night except Saturday from 2am – 8am.

Many of my friends and associates asked my boss how he could manage offices in Asia and Australia when he was traveling so much.  Pretty amazing when he takes the airplanes more than the car, I would say, but having said that I know that one thing my boss is very cautious about is covering the office and the factory well, in terms of insurance.  So regardless where he might be, the office and the employees were taken care of.

But he had to thank his office administrator, yours truly, for taking care of all that for him and the others.  A site like business insurance UK is a great place to start if you own your own business/store and have employees and company cars/vans that need to be covered. Not just ordinary cover though, a coverage to suit your budget and your kind of business.  Being the country’s largest independently owned insurance broker does come in handy because they not only give you the best deals but they treat you right as well.  It’s pretty simple, you go online and put in some information that’s needed to put together a policy you cannot get elsewhere, and if you find any discrepancy, they will refund you happily. Now that’s the kind of assurance you can never find elsewhere eh?  So having a middle name “efficient” wasn’t actually all my credit, but with places like autonetinsurance, I can’t go too wrong or too far from the financial director’s ledger.

One of London’s most famous attraction is Madame Tussard Wax Museum. You haven’t been to London.. if you don’t visit the Wax Museum. It’s an awesome experience … to see these life like figurines.. and if you are alone in the same room with some of them.. some ppl say .. you can hear them whisper to you .. hahhaha!! You can book online for your tickets.. or check with your hotel concierge for tickets. Open daily from 9am – 5pm. You can get there by the tube at Baker St underground station, easy to reach from just about anywhere on the central London tube network. 400 lifesize of the rich and famous are being exhibited at any one time. Lifesize replicas of stars of the stage and screen, musicians and monarchs are displayed alongside footballers and politicians. Have fun.. ! and take pictures.. with your favorite idol..!

Airports With Wi-Fi

A lot of airport has come a long way .. from the days that i used to fly some 20 yrs ago.  Even in Antigua, the departure lounge after security, I can use my Mac memory laptop on do my work and go on the internet.  So convenient.. and so easy .. once you know how.  And Israel .. Tel Aviv, I didn’t have any problems with getting online either.  So yes, I’m pretty sure .. that most Airports will keep you connected.. even if your flight is delayed, you can still chat with your girlfriend now on IM or Yahoo.  Gone are the days.. where you are stranded.. and you have to wait in line .. to use the phone, if you didn’t have roaming on your own cellphone.

I was in Glasgow for 4 yrs.. and one of the very first thing, my host brought me to visit was the Glasgow Cathedral. The history of the cathedral is rich..! My first thought..?? Magnificent..! it was a very, very impressive church. This is one of the few Scottish medieval churches to have survived the Reformation unscathed. It is breathtaking, a beauty and a wonder. The architectural of the building is not something you find now .. in this time.. and I love the painted panes in the church. If you are ever in this area, you should visit Glasgow Cathedral, it is on the east end of Cathedral Street and not far from where Castle Street becomes High Street. You can’t missed it.

Air China Economy

My friends are sometimes very mean.. they think that if they fly Air China.. it would mean some old crickety 2 propeller kinda aircraft.  But truth be told.. it is not true.  Air China plane isn’t the greatest .. but this was the economy meal that we were served on the plane not too long ago.  It doesn’t taste as bad as it looks trust me.. muahahah!!  The air stewardess were quite nice even to me, i think they think my boss is my husband or b/f.

To cruise the Mediterranean was my dream and at first I was quite worried that my sea-sickness would ruin my holiday. However I’m glad to let you all know that I didn’t feel queasy at all, in fact the only time I did was when I was getting down from the cruise ship back on to land.  Like most cruises that I had been on, the Mediterranean cruises boast of having the finest food and entertainment on board.  With a 7 story high ship one cannot help but feel that you are in a fully equipped hotel.

The people I worked for in the UK had won a huge contract and gotten some big awards, therefore we were all given a 6 day cruise on the Mediterranean Sea.  We were just finishing our project in Spain and flew to London to catch a connecting flight to Nice, France.  Since we didn’t want to waste any time we decided to take a short tour around Nice for a couple of hours before embarking on our cruise ship in the late afternoon. Of course first came the mandatory safety drill for any cruise, then we took a short nap.  The Mediterranean cruise was truly, truly amazing and we not only were in Nice, we visited Florence the next day and then headed to Rome.  We covered a lot of places in such a short time.  We also managed to visit Monte Caro and then headed back to Nice, France to end our week.

The evenings on the cruise ship were eventful and we ate and drink the night away.  There were just so many things we wanted to do that we never thought we could.  And truly amazing were the people on board the cruise.  They were excellent, everyone was friendly and we had a ball.  If you asked me if I would go for another cruise I’d have to tell you that I most definitely would.  It is entertainment for the whole family and our Mediterranean cruise covered so many places that it was worth every penny the company spent.
