Olympic Fever

While the neighbours had gone to support their favorite team in Vancouver, BC for the Olympics - I sadly was looking for discount prescription eyeglasses as I watch over the television for more celebration in Vancouver city. Of course, they had to rub it in.. and send me pictures taken with their iPhone!! grrrr..!! but I thought I would share these wonderful and vibrant pictures with the world too. This was taken at the corner of Howe St & West Georgia St.

As a resident in Canada for the past 10 yrs - I’ll have to say that I’m certainly proud that the event was a success - moreso proud because the Canada won many gold medals in this Winter Olympic. Looking at the pictures sent by the neighbours you can feel and see how supportive everyone in Canada was to make this awesome place a success in welcoming the entire world.

What are your thoughts? were you in Vancouver? How I wished we could go to .. but with a kid in school and there were no special Olympic break given - we had no choice but to stay put and watch on television.

Andara Hotel @ Phuket unlike any Fort Myers rentals was still a pretty good experience overall, the suites were pretty awesome. But first for those who are not aware of this, Phuket is a little island away from Bangkok - well not so little since the last time I was there but very touristy if you asked me. You will find even a Hard Rock Cafe there but they were already there since like 15 yrs ago i think.

There are many bedrooms in the suite, so you can actually fully utilized the whole suite room and share the cost with friends or family - just not much privacy.

The master bedroom over looking a awesome seaview was what I want for the rest of my life if I can. Hahaa! really the stay there once made me long to go back again.

And your very own private pool and sun deck - do just about anything you want - swim naked or sun tan any which way you wish. The suite consist of a full kitchen with coffee machine and the works but make no mistake because you don’t have to lift a finger if you chose not to because room service is 24hrs.
Turkey Favorites

As someone who loves food and an adventurous one at that - i’m sure you can understand why I love Turkey this much. While i was on the way there one way - i had read something about glucosamine for a co-worker of mine in Istanbul. Anyhow, coming back to my adventure in Turkey - when i first arrived i asked myself - why didn’t i agree to go any earlier - when the company had offered me a project there.

Turkey is not only about Turkish delight - but wait - while i am at it - i want you to know that the Turkish delight one can find here is not the same as the real ones. Anyhow, Turkey! a delightful city for there is food just about everywhere. You need to try just about everything - and i had the luxury to - well, almost because I was there for about a month - from fish to spices.

Some corn? this kinda cart is just about everywheres.

Don’t forget to try the grilled fish sandwiches - a must try.
I Love Taiwan

Need I say more? hehe!! greeted at Taiwan airport with this - can only make one laugh - who needs anti wrinkle cream when you can see something like that right? I’ve always loved Taiwan - not only is the food great - the shopping is even better.

The first thing we did was to go to the Shihlin market of course! See these jellies ! yums! supposed to give you a cooling effect for your body. Good for those who have had lots of fried food and curries. When visiting the Shihlin market be prepared to eat standing up. For some the Shihlin Market can be quite exhilarating - the amount of things on sale displayed and all sorts of food - and not only food we are talking about here - it’s pretty darn good food.

The famous betel nut ladies selling betel nuts in skimpy outfits.

Mullet roe or Karasumi - quite expensive mind you..! but super yuummmyy..!!

Old district in Taipei

Some chicken feet found in Shihlin Market

A bean curd place

A place famous for its croissant in Taipei.

This is how the croissant looks like in Taiwan.
X’mas In Tokyo

It is a little cold this time of the year in Japan. One tend to eat more .. when the weather is cold.. and can’t seems to lose weight fast enough. These were found in the Shinjuku area .. in Japan, Tokyo .. and one often wonder how is the light up in Asia right..?

Well, here you have it .. the Japanese are not gonna lose out on the decorating part when it comes to Christmas.. no way..!!! even without Christmas.. they are already so vibrant.. where the neon signs are .. and all. I used to joke that if the town planner of the town i am living in right now.. goes to Japan.. he would probably faint.. ! why..?/ because they don’t allowed flickering lights here.. for the safety of the pedestrians.. and the drivers. Crazy much..??

Yes..! this is only a small part of Tokyo..! the town i am living in .. should be ashamed of themselves.
Escaping The Cold

While the rest of the world is freezing, one can escape to Las Vegas for some warm sunny days .. but chilly in the nite. But it sure beats cold day and nite right? And if you are travel a lot like someone i know, some cheap health insurance is a must - i never travel without any health insurance, for you never know when you may get sick.

The Mirage itself is a spectacular view from outside, I love staying at the Mirage, even though there are many newer hotels out there in Las Vegas. One is spoiled for choices.

The Luxor is an Egyptian themed hotel, not only is it grand - the architectural work on it is amazing. Look at the tip of the pyramid .. you can see a beam of light shooting up into the sky… it is an awesome, awesome sight.

A view from my hotel room - spectacular .. and intoxicating - as compared to where i lived.. the town planner of my current town would probably faint.. of heart attack seeing so much lights.
Vacation During Winter

Many had asked me about where to go for winter, truth be told, i would love to fly to Perth, when we have winter here. But Perth is the other way around and planning for orlando vacations like most people would in this part of the world, would be a lot more feasible. Why..?? well, first off .. Orlando is a lot closer, so the airfare .. and accommodation is so much more cheaper.. and value for money.
Some choose Cuba.. and i love Cuba and Mexico too.. but once you are there.. it’s like the whole of Canada.. and US residents are there. And a vacation is a time where you wanna get away from everything familiar right..?? so just imagine.. bumping into someone you know from your town… now that can’t be that fun. hahhaha!!! So where do you go for your winter vacation..?? which spot is your favorite..?? some i know goes back to the same place year after year. Are you like that..??
Louisiana Supreme Court Building
Posted by breading in Places Of Interest, Things Must Do, USA, Useful Links 101 on 10 10th, 2009
The Louisanna Supreme Court Building near the french quarter hotels of Beaux Arts-style and originally called the “New Courthouse Building” was originally built from 1908-1910. Its purpose was to “clear slums” while replacing the Cabildo and Presbytère as the seat of local justice. For fifty years the Louisiana Supreme Court and a spate of lower courts and offices drew swarms of glad-handed politicians, judges and lawyers, plaintiffs and defendants, juries and commissioners, clerks and secretaries, librarians, and even an occasional historian through its sculpted hallways. But in 1958 the Supreme Court departed for newer quarters and others soon followed. The Louisiana Wild Life and Fisheries Museum moved in, but when they left, the building closed and was allowed to decay. After an extensive renovation in 2004, the Louisiana Supreme Court moved back into the courthouse, and were joined by Court of Appeal-Fourth Circuit, the State Judicial Administrator’s Office, the Law Library of Louisiana, an Attorney General’s Office and, in time, a legal museum. The building is guarded by a statue of former United States Chief Justice, Edward Douglas White.

New York City Brooklyn Bridge
Posted by breading in Places Of Interest, Traveling Tips, USA, Useful Links 101, Vacations on 09 30th, 2009
It’s funny how some of us .. who had been to Brooklyn Bridge still go for a visit every time we are in New York - Manhattan City. Well, for me . .. it’s almost every single time. Why..?? because i’m always there for work.. and always there with a new co-worker. Like the other time, i was there for a life insurance comparison for the company i worked for - opening a rep office, and had to go set up office and payroll and you know the legal work for them plus taxes for the staff and company, i had to tag along with this new co-worker of mine to show her around.
So what so great about the Brooklyn Bridge.. ?? well, my best g/f took her wedding pictures on the Brooklyn Bridge. .and she wasn’t even staying in New York City at that time, she was in San Frans. Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge is a must-do if you want a great view of Manhattan - hot but definitely worthwhile telling everyone you walked across the bridge. Of course, take lots of pictures.. like we do and while you are there, don’t forget the magnificent views of the Manhattan skyline at the Promenade, this 1/3-mile-long sliver of green overlooks Brooklyn’s busy industrial waterfront. Enjoy!
Reclining Buddha
Posted by breading in General Info, Places Of Interest, Thailand, Things Must Do, Vacations on 09 28th, 2009
In Thailand, or should i say the whole of Thailand, you will see reclining Buddhas of all sizes. It’s amazing to me anyway, how Thailand who is seemingly one of the poorer country amongst the neighbouring countries, seems to have the money to paste on gold sleeves for their Buddhas yet have no money to help the poorer population in the country and almost all the gals i know of is a working girl at one point of their life. But that’s another story for another time.
This reclining Buddha is found in Ayutthaya, Thailand. Gone are the days, whereby one have to spend hours on the road to get to Ayutthaya. Now one can travel from Bangkok to Ayutthaya in less than an hour, thanks to the new toll way and the divided highway. Ayuthaya is the old capital of Thailand and it used to be one of the richest cities in Asia i heard - exporting rice, animal skins and ivory even in the 1600s. The city was completely burned down during the war in 1767. Visit all the temples and palaces while you are there.. and be amazed at the architectural details of all the temples. It is really a beautiful place with lots of history… listen to the wind blow secrets while you enjoy the elephant herds.
