Resort In Phuket

November 3rd, 2010

There are many resorts in Phuket – after all Phuket is a touristy place.  But this resort I loved !  because it was a pool villa!  and the beach is just right in front of our villa – about a 10 mins walk.   We were given the Pearl Bed Suite if I am not wrong.  Every suite I heard is themed differently, although i enjoyed my stay at the resort – I find it very inconvenient when we wanted to go outta the resort and enjoy the sightseeing of Phuket.  I think the Indigo resort is great – for couples who just wants to relax and enjoy the sun.

The Indigo Phuket resort is relatively new as you can see in the decor of the hotel.  I heard it’s by well known architect Bill something.  I thought the bathroom was pretty cool!

Sit and relax in your private patio  – and read a book and sip some cocktail.  Did I tell you – they served breakfast in our room?

Lots of greenery as you can see here from the outside of our villa.   The service was great and it felt so good to tip the service staff because they really made our stay so pleasurable.  I want to go back to this resort sometime soon – it’s really a tropical paradize for anyone.

Raya Resort Phuket

If you are heading to Phuket and don’t want to spend a lot of money in hotel accommodation – try Raya Resort located on Raya Island.  It’s a very beautiful place less than 15Km from Chalong Bay on Phuket Island.  The water is clear and the beaches are snow white  in color.  Great place for snorkeling, diving, swimming or even fishing.

At only $58 Canadian – with American breakfast!  that’s awfully cheap right?  They have regular pick up to Patong Beach and different part of the island – alternatively – you can book your own private boat – to tour around the island.  All rooms are air-conditioned – and the night view was spectacular.

Beautiful beaches and the water – so clear and magnificent.

Look at all clear the water was!

The restaurant at Raya Resort – they had really good food and very cheap – compared to Canada!

We took a trip to FantaSea Phuket at Patong – it’s a huge theme park complex which is made up of many stores that sells various trinkets and souvenirs.  You see elephant shows here and as you can see here – an elephant waterfall kinda fountain.  If you like – you can get an elephant ride too.

Andara Hotel @ Phuket unlike any Fort Myers rentals was still a pretty good experience overall, the suites were pretty awesome.  But first for those who are not aware of this, Phuket is a little island away from Bangkok – well not so little since the last time I was there but very touristy if you asked me.  You will find even a Hard Rock Cafe there but they were already there since like 15 yrs ago i think.

There are many bedrooms in the suite, so you can actually fully utilized the whole suite room and share the cost with friends or family – just not much privacy.

The master bedroom over looking a awesome seaview was what I want for the rest of my life if I can.  Hahaa! really the stay there once made me long to go back again.

And your very own private pool and sun deck – do just about anything you want – swim naked or sun tan any which way you wish.  The suite consist of a full kitchen with coffee machine and the works but make no mistake because you don’t have to lift a finger if you chose not to because room service is 24hrs.

Phuket also known as James Bond island to a lot of people .. because .. if you look closely at the above picture.. this was the place where they had filmed one of the James Bond movies .. in the 80s. I cannot remember which one.. but i’ve seen it before.. when i was younger.  So the local folks called this place James Bond Island from then on.

Phuket is definitely very touristy now, unlike those early days. .when i was there. I flew Thai Airways to Phuket.. and the sun and the beach was the best thing there.  The water was extremely clear and it’s a great place for just about any water sports especially diving or scuba diving.  Unfortunately, accommodation.. and food were not cheap then and i don’t think they are any cheaper.  I had actually expected it to be a lot cheaper since they weren’t fully developed than but i was wrong.  We were staying in a resort.. so everytime we needed to go out.. we had to hire a driver. There were lots of sea sports.. manned by the locals there.. and like i said.. it was fun.. but definitely not cheap at all. But the people in Phuket were very friendly and you are being approached for massages a lot.. and prices ranges between 30 – 40 dollars in the hotel wherelse at the beach front you can get a massage for $10.

Staying at a good resort means everything because the beach is just at your doorstep. You find every and anything within reach and Phuket’s night life at Patong is very famous .. you can party from late in the evening to wee hours in the morning. Yes.. they do have the go-go girls.. dancing skimpily on top of a bar.. and beer are really cheap.. but don’t get hassle into seeing some girlie show.. that might cost you a few hundred bucks.. by the time you get out.  And even though in Phuket they say that prostituition is illegal. .you do see alot of working girls but not as much as compared to those in Bangkok.
