Fountains Abbey, North Yorkshire |

Fountain Abbey also known as the the Rustic Bridge here. Britain’s largest monastic ruin and said to be founded in 1132 by 13 Benedictine monks. Sold in the year 1540 to a merchant following the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539 by Henry VIII. It is sad to see so many of the beautiful abbeys destroyed. It took us alot of walking.. as the place was huge. But exploring was fun. .and we took alot of pictures. The air was warm.. and humid.
