Nürnberg Germany brings back lots of good memories for me.  It was in 1992 that I was there – there was so much to see and so many things I want to bring home with me – like the designer upholstery fabric that I fell in love with immediately.  Nürnberg is a very beautiful place and there is a grocery store that we used to go to – with my college buddy who grew up there.   I think it is called the Markkauf – but don`t quote me on that – it had been far too long.   And there is the Landbierparadies restaurant for some German food.

Nuenberg village – don`t forget to try their grills.

They say this is some kind of government office owned by the Nazis and all the buildings are so beautiful and so distinctive – a lot like fairy tale castles.

Beautiful building for shopping where I found all the fabrics that I loved.

Every year during November in Germany – one can expect millions to browse around 100s of stalls – selling grilled sausages – gifts, wine – and many more good buys at the Christmas Market.   This is a 36 days event that starts around mid – November I think.  For visitors from outside Germany the Frankfurt Christmas Market couldn’t be easier to get to or have a better location as it is only 15 minutes away from Germany’s largest airport.

The food are so yummy and even though it is cold as you can see here – everyone is joyous and already celebrating Christmas.  I love everything in Frankfurt at this time of the year.   I didn’t get to go to Frankfurt this year – but a best friend was there for a seminar and had shared some photos with me.
Look at the yummy sausages – I usually have 2 of them – and then head to the pub for a glass of wine while the engineers will go for their beer or stout.
There has been a Christmas market in Frankfurt for over 600 years. Full of history and traditions the Frankfurt Christmas Market is one of Germany’s oldest and most popular Christmas markets in Europe. In fact the Frankfurt Christmas Market is so good and beautiful that every year a smaller sister version takes place in the UK city of Birmingham, which is probably one contributing factor why the German Christmas Markets have grown so much in popularity in the last few years.

Found some old pictures of the Cathedral in Cologne, Germany and thought I would share it with you. No one goes to Germany without stopping at the cathedral in Cologne, that was what my co-worker had said to me.. and when i complained that I had seen enough of Cathedral around Europe.. he was quite adamant that i go to this one.  So i said.. alright.. and went..  and boy..!! was it magnificient..!  Look at how intricate the architectural details..  and taking a closer look, you can actually feel gothic.. like the Adams family kinda gothic.  It also made me wonder in awe about how much talent these people had.  It’s a different kind of feeling from the cathedrals that i saw in Spain.

My co-worker told me that this was the pride of Cologne and this cathedral is a World Heritage Site.  This is the most famous landmark in Cologne and one of the world’s largest church. It is opened daily to anyone and they even have a tour of the church for just 4 pounds.. but we were there when they were having some sort of special service, so we couldn’t go in.. and i was kinda disappointed.  I had meant to come again another day.. but i didn’t make it back.

I honestly wished i had gone back.. and now looking back and hearing some of the magnificent statues and painting others see inside the cathedral.. i could really smack myself.. for being so lazy.. and complacent at that time.  I don’t know when I will be able to go back to Germany.. but if i do .. you know where to find me.

September is round the corner .. and it definitely reminds me of OcktoberFest In Munich, Germany. It was all about drinking beer .. eating pretzels.. and fun.. loads of fun..! If you are in Munich .. during the fest.. you should go early. The tents are filled up really quick.

Look at the people waiting to get in.

From the carpark.

Mayor’s office in Munich

It is an awesome sight.. the Berlin Cathedral. Yes.. it almost seems like i look out for these places to go to. But what can one do.. when you have a boss.. who thinks .. he was Michaelangelo in his last life. The building was nearing a 100th years old.. when i visited it. The history of the Berlin cathedral reaches back to the Middle Age.

Of course, Berlin is more than just the cathedral, it is afterall the heart of modern Germany,  the old and the new seems to merge.  The grand public buildings and museums that we went to were very awesome.   We had many good evenings in the urban restaurants.. and ended up the night in pubs and we even visited some nightclubs with our clients.  The city that is forever changing .. that was what one of my co-worker had said to me.. when were were there.
