Well, instead of looking into my auto insurance quotes – i got distracted by the fare sale announcement from AirTran.  Starting from next Tuesday – AirTran is having a huge airfare sale on all its destination till November 16.  Lowest fare ever seen in the travel industry but you are required to purchase your ticket 10 days in advance and watch out for those blackout dates like Memorial Day.  So if the children are visiting the grandparents or if you are thinking of taking a summer break to Milwaukee or even to Washington – take advantage of the fare sale now.

Airline Snack Box

February 28th, 2010

My  best friend came home after a trip to UK with this snack box from UA  – this is no ordinary snack box mind you – it’s the First class snack box from UA’s regional flights – you can see that it’s made like those industrial products mass produce – I guess this is their way of appeasing their passenger for their cramped legroom.   So on a UA flight – even if the flight was for 2.5hrs – you still get this snack box, unfortunately for UA – as you can see – the best friend didn’t even touch the snack box at all. Shame!

As I was looking at my  life insurance quotes , there had been talk about a new air service in Yarmouth for a few weeks now – and apparently – it will be up and running real soon  – in fact in March.  I’ve written a few weeks ago about Starlink Aviation pulling out of Yarmouth because of funding being utilized to the max which was supposedly for 5 yrs period from the government. I wonder for the people of Yarmouth – how this new air service will work out for them – since it is only going to land in Maine and Yarmouth and not in Halifax?  A 8 seater plan was so secretly kept till last week – wonder whats all the secrecy about ? but as the people of Yarmouth loves to say  – ” THIS IS YARMOUTH! “   Good luck to the ppl of Yarmouth and the air service .. i hope things panned out better for both.

Cuba Here I Come !

Cuba here i come at the end of March !  i refused to go during the March break because it is so expensive !  and very crowded too in Cuba – just about anyone i know from my small town is in Cuba suntanning and making a fool of themselves.  But did you know that WestJet has a sale on for it’s flight as well as 7 nights for as little as $999 – so I’m taking advantage of it .. and packing my best wrinkle cream for this trip.

Air Miles

January 25th, 2010

Many people had asked me before if one can really use your air miles to fly and if it was worth collecting them.  Well, we own our own business and we’ve tried getting the Air Miles franchise opportunities for our store as well but they didn’t really need one for the kind of store we have. So yes, it really works and you not only can exchange your miles for air tickets and holidays, you can also exchange them for electronics and other stuff.

But for those who are planning to use their air miles, let me forewarn you about the length and time needed and taken to plan a trip – so if you are using your air miles, try to plan earlier and also to reconfirm a week in advance in form of paper.  Also go to the airport earlier – just in case there is any glitches.

Shocking eh?  very to me anyways..  afterall – isn’t Japan Airlines a government owned carrier?  I could be wrong but it looks like Japan Air is seeking new investors and loan write-offs as it restructures after posting three losses in four years. More talks will be held after meeting with Japan Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama.  I guess some management staff will be laid off work and more cutting on pays and other incentives are in order – no more  weight loss products for the wives of these engineers.

Traveling so much for work, you would think that a cross country moving wouldn’t defeat me but as i waited in the airport from Hong Kong back home a good 18 hours flight with transit in Alaska, i cannot but thank my lucky star taht I’m traveling first class and in one of the best airline – Singapore Airlines.  Known for its hospitality and beautiful gals in kebaya – their signature uniform.  But truth be told, the hostesses are always nice on first class even on Malaysian Airlines.   We flew in United Airlines first class too – but the matronly looking hostess weren’t as nice as the asian counterparts.  So what do you think ..??  are the Asian airlines a lot better ..?? when it comes to hospitality?  well, don’t make comparison if you are taking economy class though – because i remember taking Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong to Singapore and the hostess weren’t even there as soon as we boarded the plane till we landed.

So for those flying Air Canada from now to end of January, you don’t have to rush home to your apartments just to get onto the internet.   Now you can do all your online work from the flight, well, actually only from Toronto to Los Angeles.  The service will cost $9.95 per flight for customers with a laptop computer and $7.95 for a personal electronic device. Not too expensive in my humble opinion.. because your flight has gotta be more than an hour right..??   So don’t forget to ask for their wireless service on board.. if you are flying Air Canada.

So i hear JetBlue is having a one day flight sale starting from $29 on the 19.  So forget about your home theater systems and go somewhere.. and take advantage of the cheap seats.. and visit the relative or mom of yours.  Or make the wife happy by booking the tickets for her.. and the children.. to visit home this Christmas.

The airline said sale fares are for travel between Dec. 2 and Dec 16 as well as between Jan. 6 to Jan. 28, with some blackout dates. The sale is not valid on tickets for travel on Jan 14, 15, 18 and 19.  Most of the discounted fares originate from JetBlue’s home base at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. Destinations range from close spots such as Boston to Caribbean locations such as Saint Lucia.

For those who’ve traveled with United, US Airways, Lufthansa and Air Canada, will not find Star Alliance a starnger at all.  In fact, you will know that Star Alliance is one of the biggest airline group with 25 members with them.  You will be glad the next time you fly Continental, you will have many options when it comes to connecting flight and the likes.  I think they must also use barcode scanners like the ones back home when you check in your luggage by now.  So the next time.. you fly continental .. you know you have a lot of other options as well.
