If you are thinking of taking a weekend trip to Bangkok this weekend – you better cancel your trip even though I know some would love to see the Golden lighting there but the authorities fear that things might turn violent during the weekend.   It looks like a civil war is about to start and I haven’t seen one of this in a long time now.   But yes it can turn ugly – and I was in one in Vietnam some 20 yrs ago – and had to be evacuated out of there by a special group – so my advice – better be safe than sorry.

Since i wrote about Amsterdam in Spring in my last post – i thought i should tell you all to visit the Van Gogh Museum there too while you are there.  There are som 40 museums in Amsterdam and if you have your Amsterdam Card you get free entry to the museum plus we went in pretty quick as compared to the friends who was there and didn’t have the card.  Vincent Van Gogh’sd collection was magnificent to say the least and the museum was awesome.   Did you know that Van Gogh only sold 1 painting when he was alive..??  very strange eh.  Admission for adults is like $15 Cdn and $4.50 for kids – those under 12 gets to go in for free – so it is a relatively cheap expedition.

April is round the corner and while going thru’ some vacation pictures of yesteryear – I remember the tulips in Amsterdam and the best time to travel because there wasn’t too much tourist at that time.  We started with visiting Keukenhof but the tulips were in full bloom and you should see the endless fields of tulips.  Peak tourist season don’t start till June in Amsterdam and don’t forget to check out the Queens Day Festival at the end of Aril and then you have the Mardi Gras too and the National Holiday – the birthday of one of the Queen.

Olympic Fever

While the neighbours had gone to support their favorite team in Vancouver, BC for the Olympics – I sadly was looking for discount prescription eyeglasses as I watch over the television for more celebration in Vancouver city.   Of course, they had to rub it in.. and send me pictures taken with their iPhone!!  grrrr..!! but I thought I would share these wonderful and vibrant pictures with the world too.  This was taken at the corner of Howe St & West Georgia St.

As a resident in Canada for the past 10 yrs – I’ll have to say that I’m certainly proud that the event was a success – moreso proud because the Canada won many gold medals in this Winter Olympic. Looking at the pictures sent by the neighbours you can feel and see how supportive everyone in Canada was to make this awesome place a success in welcoming the entire world.

What are your thoughts?  were you in Vancouver?  How I wished we could go to .. but with a kid in school and there were no special Olympic break given – we had no choice but to stay put and watch on television.
