ShenZhen

November 25th, 2009

About some 15 yrs ago.. when i first visited Shenzhen .. it was already a very thriving little place..  and although they have no astronauts there, you can see that they are trying very hard to make it as touristy as possible.

But these days.. not only is this Shen Zhen for tourist but also for businessmen and for those who wants to invest or have a rep office.   Lots of high rise.. and lots of work for the locals . .and yes.. like the rest of China..  ShenZhen is a place to go.. because it’s not only high tech, it is definitely cheap to live in.. and to do business at.

One would definitely need the best appetite suppressant when on transit in Hong Kong Airport.  One would think that some random food junction wouldn’t really have any great food.. but Food Junction is a chain store i heard.. therefore the standard of most of the food .. has gotta be up there.  So if you can’t wait to reach home to Malaysia.. or Singapore and on transit .. like i was..  in Hong Kong for like 3 hrs..  i ate my fill of chee cheong fun and some congee.  Nothing fantastic.. but pretty good.. after not having authentic chinese food for this long.

So for those flying Air Canada from now to end of January, you don’t have to rush home to your apartments just to get onto the internet.   Now you can do all your online work from the flight, well, actually only from Toronto to Los Angeles.  The service will cost $9.95 per flight for customers with a laptop computer and $7.95 for a personal electronic device. Not too expensive in my humble opinion.. because your flight has gotta be more than an hour right..??   So don’t forget to ask for their wireless service on board.. if you are flying Air Canada.

So i hear JetBlue is having a one day flight sale starting from $29 on the 19.  So forget about your home theater systems and go somewhere.. and take advantage of the cheap seats.. and visit the relative or mom of yours.  Or make the wife happy by booking the tickets for her.. and the children.. to visit home this Christmas.

The airline said sale fares are for travel between Dec. 2 and Dec 16 as well as between Jan. 6 to Jan. 28, with some blackout dates. The sale is not valid on tickets for travel on Jan 14, 15, 18 and 19.  Most of the discounted fares originate from JetBlue’s home base at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. Destinations range from close spots such as Boston to Caribbean locations such as Saint Lucia.

Ho Chi Minh City

When people talk or think about Ho Chi Minh City .. they think of a place with no electricity and almost no high rise building.. but they are so wrong because the Ho Chi Minh City of today .. consist of more than just that and in fact constantly changing.  Everyone is hardworking as far as I can see and no there are no disability appeal like they have in the West.

What’s most appealing to me at Ho Chi Minh City is the flea market type of stores where one can get cheap food, cheap clothes, cheap almost everything.  Some folks refuses to try anything on the street but I tell you .. you are definitely missing out on the local delicacy if you don’t.  They may not be something you are familiar with .. but what doesn’t go with coconut right?

Ho Chi Minh City reminds me a lot about Phuket before the tourist flocked the place..  and I was hoping that Ho Chi Minh wouldn’t end up like another Phuket … but you and I know.. it’s inevitable.   So enjoy it.. before it turns into just a tourist attraction.

Many had asked me about where to go for winter, truth be told, i would love to fly to Perth, when we have winter here.  But Perth is the other way around and planning for  orlando vacations like most people would in this part of the world, would be a lot more feasible.  Why..?? well, first off .. Orlando is a lot closer, so the airfare .. and accommodation is so much more cheaper.. and value for money.

Some choose Cuba.. and i love Cuba and Mexico too.. but once you are there.. it’s like the whole of Canada.. and US residents are there.  And a vacation is a time where you wanna get away from everything familiar right..??  so just imagine.. bumping into someone you know from your town…  now that can’t be that fun.  hahhaha!!!   So where do you go for your winter vacation..??  which spot is your favorite..?? some i know goes back to the same place year after year.  Are you like that..??
