It was said that the Oresund used to be full of mermaids, and this is the home of all mermaids according to legend. It was said that this sculpture was donated by Carlsberg brewer after he had seen the little mermaid after seeing the fairy tale.
The sculpture was sculpted by Edward Eriksen a renowned sculptor. The little mermaid is said to have to be there for 300 yrs before she can become a human. Every year thousands of tourists flock here to see the mermaid. More on Copenhagen’s food soon.
